We pass by the Palm Log corral again. It's near the main dirt road & our turnoff
the Palm Log corral
Someone is filling that water tuck from the huge water tank behind it.
The water tank gets filled (over time) by a small pipe that runs 6 miles downhill from the spring.
Hey, more rope! I can use this with the flint & steel!
The water truck will be gone next time we go by, but we never see anybody around.
We take some side roads on the way back to camp
pink sky sunset! 5:48pm
Next day: Dec 28, 10am. It's finally stopped raining, so we set up the kitchen roof.
It's been windy too, so we move the roof so it can be tied to the shelved. They are set in concrete!
Sun & clouds alternate
12/28/04 noon. Raining heavily
but it's still a nice day!
3:45, the rain has stopped for now
Still kinda windy though
The wind becomes so annoying we hide behind the 4Runner & pile stuff under it. My chair keep blowing over anyway.
A rainy day camping still beats a normal day working!
It's not all that cold, except in the wind. Now I'm not in the wind anymore.
6:11pm Sun is gone.
Brian is good at the dragon breath thing
It was SO Windy that brian's head got stuck sideways
Dec 29th 8am. It rained all night and the wind Howled through this canyon, but now it's a great time for Rainbows!
Hurray!
Look closer, that's a double rainbow
While Brain gets out his pro camera gear Dave & Louise take about 30 pictures...
I ram back down the road trying to get far enough away to get the whole rainbow into the photo
but the rainbow was too big
so here it is, in multiple shots
(8:45am) And then it just dumped rain and we hid. Good time for a Louis L'Amour book
12:20pm, and it's all cleared up! :-) Lets go out adventuring!
This is an old unused house about half way from the Palm log corral to Palomar camp & spring. It's just after the Palm Forest
The wind blew many things into the road, including this Cholla cactus. Louise uses her telescoping rake to clear the road
1:50pm. We stop for lunch in this canyon of petroglyphs. nice sand here.
We eat first, then we will hike a little ways
